A VR and mixed reality experience for the silk museum in Como, where visitors explore historic looms and the silk-making process with a virtual guide.
The challenge
Silk production is made of machines and steps that are hard to grasp from a display case. The museum wanted a visit that is active rather than passive, connecting the history of the craft with immersive technology.
The approach
The experience blends the real rooms of the museum with interactive digital reconstructions, in VR and mixed reality. Visitors can operate textile machines, trigger guided stories and follow the production process from the inside, while a virtual guide adapts the content to what they do. Complex mechanisms are shown step by step, so parts that are normally hidden become easy to understand.
The result
An educational experience where cultural heritage and immersive technology work together, turning a museum visit into something to explore with your own hands.
